Pointy Kitty

I have been trying to learn how to sew, especially fun projects for my daughter or cute presents for baby showers. I have already sewn some adorable baby shoes for Lucy, which... if I do say so myself... turned out REALLY cute... well.... I was happy with them. But ever since becoming a mother I have picked up sewing because I really appreciated how great my mom is at it. She was always able to make me skirts, dresses, costumes... anything and everything. And since I am 5'10.... I was truly thankful that my mom could make a skirt that wouldn't make me look like Xena Warrior Princess had just beaten up Shirley Temple and taken her skirt. So, I have started to learn with smaller projects, like starting off with baby items. But, I have found another cute project from Wee Wonderful; a cute kitty.
.
It is a fun stuffed kitty with a different shape and a unique form. The tutorial posted is not hard to follow, but it is a little intimidating when you look at it. So just don't worry and give it a try. I really liked making this kitty because it gave me a chance to try some different sewing techniques. Especially since this project allows you to use the sewing machine and hand stitching (for attaching the head and for attaching the stripes). Also as a note... make sure you really stuff it well or it will get a little floppy. So here you go, the tutorial for "Pointy Kitty".

  1. That pink cat is so cute! It matches the quilt you made for Lucy, right?

  2. What cute kitties! Are those the ones you made? I don't know if any sewing tutorial would be easy enough for me to follow...I'm so not great at that!

  3. I can only sew straight seams, this kitty looks like it might do me in. Once I get my sewing machine up and running I'll THINK about trying it. Thanks for the link.

  4. I crocheted a little lamb for my oldest son when he was a toddler. He still has it. I think things that Mommy made have long term emotional value. The child can hold it and its says my mom loves me enough to have taken the time to make this. Cute kitties!

  12. I wish I could sew - my kids are all SO wearing store-bought costumes and having their pants hemmed at the drycleaner's!

  15. I'm also trying to get into sewing. Sometimes it seems like everything is cheaper just to buy it already made by the time you purchase the fabric, pattern, and all the materials plus the time and frustration. I also need to learn more about my sewing machine so I know what I'm doing. Wish me luck, you inspire me!

  18. That is awesome. Have you seen the book, Softies:simple instructions for 25 plush pals. I wish I would make the time to do some of them.

  19. Okay, so this has nothing to do with that adorable point kitty, but I saw a comment you made on the blog "Not so Perfect" about not being able to lose the baby weight. I have two little ones, one and two and a half, and the only way I lost weight was by using www.sparkpeople.com.

    Good luck! :)

  20. That's really cute. I think I'll have to try to make one. I'm really trying to get into sewing too. It was one of my moms favorite things to do when I was a kid. I always remember her sewing.
