Ohhhh finally, my husband is back home with us. I know this is going to sound cheesy, but we have never been apart from each other for more than one day. And these past three days my sweet hubby has been gone camping with some of the youth in our church and now he is finally home. And well, not to be a complete sap, but I had no idea how much I would miss him being gone. Throughout the day I would notice things that I had missed about him, a few being...
- I didn't have a reason to eat junk food as much. If Curtis doesn't already have it out, eating it on the couch, then I usually don't grab a handful. So this one is a blessing and a curse!
- Had no idea how hard it would be trying to fall asleep without him. I finally had to move on his side of the bed to get myself to fall asleep.
- I didn't realize HOW MUCH he made me laugh. As soon as he got home I was laughing and rollin' all over the place. No one can make me smile and crack-up like Curtis.
- My motivation to cook was completely GONE! I mean goooooone! I did not cook one single meal the whole time he was camping. I lived mostly off sandwiches, cereal, and made a couple fast food trips. I just couldn't get myself to pump out a casserole when it was mainly just me eating.
- Okay, this might not be a good one, but my house was sooooo much cleaner. Seriously! When I cleaned up a room and returned.... guess what!? IT WAS STILL CLEAN! No kidding! I am for real! I always figured my house fell apart because I have a kid now and that is what happens. But apparently no! It was Curtis this whole time. Ha ha. So, now that he is back... I can't help but smile every time I see a little pile of crap that Curtis has left lying around. Granted... it isn't THAT cute, but now that my eyes have been opened to the truth... I can't help but chuckle.
- With out Curtis around I couldn't find my stuff as much. He always knows where my shoes are, or jewelry, socks, iPod, running shoes, hair clips.... everything. I don't know how he does it, but he is like the all powerful OZ when it comes the knowledge of random items that are lying around.
- He gets excited over so many little things. He is always throwing out ideas or plans of what we need to do or what we need to save up and buy so we can go (insert here) and do (insert here). He is so cute, he just loves planning out stuff and thinking of all the fun we can have.
- My cuddle buddy. I know some guys don't really like to cuddle, but he is soooo snugly. Every single night we watch a movie or the TV, not cause we have to watch TV , but we just like having to reason to settle down and snuggle.
- Curtis is way into running and has helped me start to fall in love with running all over again. Especially, since he is training for a marathon right now, so I have been trying to run/train too. Yea.... I didn't do as much with him gone :)
- His shower jell. We both have body wash, but we also both use the same loofah. Every time I take a shower I can always smell his good jell on the loofah still. By the third day, I couldn't really smell it at all.
- My hubby has the cutest smile. He just has this bright crooked smile that is so him. He has a personality that is to the beat of his own drum and a smile to match. I have never really seen anyone with such a cute, crooked smile. All he needs is a little twinkle star to shine every time he flashes those pearly whites and it will be perfect :)
So, thank goodness my hubby is back and I can enjoy him again. Plus, it was the first time Curtis has been gone since having our daughter... and... well.. it was interesting seeing what it was like being a single mom. I am proud to say, that I at least didn't go out of my mind :) yeaaaa me!
Awww....so sweet! So glad he's back :) LOL! My house is always so much cleaner when hubby is away for work too ;)
ReplyDeleteAwww . . . that list is TOO CUTE! My house behaves similarly when hubby is out of town - things stay in one place, the laundry doesn't seem to exponentially reproduce, and the bathroom always smells good!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog. I totally relate with being cleaner when the hubby is gone - although mine doesn't travel much without us. There's definitely less to pick up. Somedays I feel like all I do is straighten up shoes, socks, and cars (my 20 month old's toy of choice).
ReplyDeleteHow sweet! I love to hear others gush over their hubbies. Sounds like you've got a great one you really love!
ReplyDeleteGlad he's home with you!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet! I don't like to be away from my hubby either... but at least he was camping with the youth from your church and not out camping with drunk old men - lol :)
ReplyDeletea lot of your tiens you listed about your huby I was Oh ME TOO!!! :) the shower gel thing, sleeping, laughing, and being a single parent...it is always nice to be reminded of what we sometimes take forgranted.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, isn't it amazing how much our lives our different when the men are gone?
ReplyDeleteCuris sounds like a fantastic man. Except for the little piles of stuff, of course, but then every hero has his hamartia.
What a sweet post. Just wait until Lucy is a little older and then Curtis won't be the only one messing up the house.
ReplyDeleteglad to hear your hubby is home! Absence makes the heart grow fonder - or so they say.
ReplyDeleteSooooooooo cute post about your hubby. And my house is so much tidier when hubby not around
ReplyDeletexx
What a great guy you have :)
ReplyDeleteLike others, my house is way cleaner when my husband is gone; are they messy or do they distract us from cleaning, hmmmm...
Awww.. I totally feel the same way about Aus. I don't cook when he is gone and I snuggle with his pillow too.
ReplyDeleteI feel lost when my husband is gone - I loose track of my schedule and everything!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I have been married for 13+ years, and we still are wimps when it comes to being separated. It doesn't get any easier for us.
ReplyDeleteBut that is good that we all miss each other isn't it?
You people are just too darn cute!
ReplyDeleteWhy are guys so messy? I have the same problem, but I bet it's worse at my house!
I'm glad you're not a single Mom anymore! I have a hard time getting to sleep when my hubby's gone too. I also don't cook when he's not here.
ReplyDeleteYes, I know how you feel. Brett has to leave this summer for 7 days to camp with the youth and I am not looking forward to that! (At least they are being good lil church boys right?) Such a cute post!
ReplyDeleteso sweet, I am the same way about cooking. Which is why when I was a single mom, I was skinny, now that I am remarried, >..........Fat......< but dont get me wrong, I dont want to be single again EVER.
ReplyDeleteSo glad your sweet hubby is back!! I miss mine when he's gone too....luckily that isn't very often!
ReplyDeleteAww. You are so sweet! I am getting all choked up! sniff, sniff
ReplyDeleteHow lucky you are!
And what a beautiful family you three make!
So glad you've got your hubby back. I miss mine when he leaves too. :0)
ReplyDeleteYou made me get up and kiss my husband :) Thanks for that...
ReplyDeleteawwww - very sweet friend :)
ReplyDeletei too am lost when the hubby is away. it's just not the same.
i have friends who look forward to their husbands going out of town and i have never understood that??
hope you enjoy lots of tv cuddle time tonight!!
I hope he reads this post. What a love letter to him (well, except for the messy part...but even that was sweet!).
ReplyDeleteHeidi
How very, very sweet. Your baby is very blessed to have parents who love each other so much. Glad he's back!!
ReplyDeleteI think this is why I never cook. My DH is on the road all the time!
ReplyDeleteGreat Post. It is amazing how much cleaner things stay when the men are gone.
ReplyDeleteVery sweet!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing that little post about you and your husband.
I agree that I have no desire to cook and my house is cleaner when my husband is gone. Strange... since I have 3 messy kids.
Glad he is back. Now go... watch tv and snuggle.
thanks for the comment on my blog :) how'd you find me? love your site - super cute! i totally relate to the sleeping part. you get used to having someone next to you, and it's hard when they're not there!
ReplyDeleteI hate when my hubby is gone. I also miss the snuggle. Glad he's home, sorry about your messy house :)
ReplyDeleteI hate when my husband's gone, HATE IT, so yay for him being back!
ReplyDeletePlus, cool shot of your first camping trip:-)
They do say that "distance makes the heart grow fonder". I am glad you are reunited. I love that family photo! =)
ReplyDeleteI hate being a travel widow. I get to do it again this week. The sleeping thin I can so relate to! I actually hate going to bed so much that I will sleep on the couch till 1:00 or 2:00 in the morning and finally go to bed. I also let the girls in bed if they come in on dad's side but we never let them sleep in our bed when he's home.
ReplyDeleteThat was so sweet - you two are adorable! :)
ReplyDeleteOkay, how long have you been married? Maybe I have become thick skinned about my husband being gone because for the first seven years of marriage he was gone for three to four days every other week. It was quite the adjustment when he stopped traveling. Don't get me wrong I love him to pieces but I do love the bed all to myself!
ReplyDeleteBTW I am so honored to have a blog celebrity, such as yourself, reading my blog!
♡ THat is the cutest post ever! I loved your list!
ReplyDeleteThat was so sweet! I can totally relate to most of those reasons you put- we are the same way. And plus it's lots easier with Karys if he is home ;) Glad you are a single mom no more! :)
ReplyDeleteWhen my husband was studying for and taking finals, I basically went on strike and did nothing. Hated it.
ReplyDeleteSo glad he's home and that his absence made to think about a bunch of reasons you love him......my house is a lot cleaner when my hubby is gone. I remember reading something on yahoo recently about just that thing. Funny. If that's the worst you can say though, he's pretty amazing.
ReplyDeleteIt is a mixed feeling ot have them gone!
ReplyDeleteI know when Bud leaves the house remains clean. Thus proving that it is NOT Bean!!!!
And yeah I need someone to snuggle with too!!!!
Glad he came home!!!
Loved the list and I'm glad he's back too. I know a lot of women complain about their men snoring, of course mine doesn't shake the walls, but I get a peaceful feeling when I hear his soft snoring - I know he's still there.
ReplyDeleteI hope you tell him all of this, because it's such a sweet post! You sound so in love, and I hope he appreciates that!
ReplyDeletehey thanks for visiting my blog, now I have found yours, and learned a ton of stuff! I especially like your Family Moment Mondays! You are so cute, and thanks for helping put things into Perspective.
ReplyDeleteI love it! I'm with you on the cooking, my daughter and I eat out dinner every night when my hubby's gone. The house staying clean puzzles me - but I know it's true because it's the same way here. It's the only upside when he's away. For me, it's his pillow. His smell only lasts a couple of days so I have to spritz his cologne on it :)
ReplyDeleteI hate when my man is gone because I know I will be very sleep deprived. I couldn't even sleep in a luxurious, amazingly plush, 5 star hotel bed because he wasn't there.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you guys are back together.
What a great "tribute" to your hubby!
ReplyDeleteMine comes home on Saturday, after being gone for 5 months (he works for the Dept. of Defense). We are SUPER excited. And nervous too, because we have our own routine now. But the kids are looking forward to having Daddy home too.
wow.. A day huh? You should count your blessings, my husband is a business traveler. We've had him home for about a month now and it is incredible.
ReplyDelete"So, now that he is back... I can't help but smile every time I see a little pile of crap that Curtis has left lying around." ROFL, oooohhh sister, that is hilarious. Funny how are husbands seem to just "misplace" piles of things around the house. :) Good thing we love 'em. ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a lucky hubby you have! Does he know about your list?
ReplyDeleteI found myself giggling several times reading it. My husband goes away on business decently often and I too have noticed many of the same things in his absence- unfortunately I stopped finding a lot of it cute a while back. Thanks for the new perspective!
ummm..whose baby are you holding? that CANNOT be Lucy!
ReplyDeleteLol! I thought I was the only one whose house is much cleaner when my husband is gone!
