Barking Mad

Just a normal everyday afternoon until the phone rings,
.
I pick up..."Hello?"
.
A voice states, "I have your dog."
.
It takes me a second to register the information, "Excuse me, what?"
.
"I have your dog." The person on the other end is now sounding more forceful and irritated.
.
Okay, so I did hear her right, "Um, we don't have a dog."
.
She retaliates snotty with, "Then how did I get this number?"
.
Okay she's got me there, but if I could answer that question then I could probably also tell her what medication she should probably be taking. I try to not sound annoyed by her rudeness at this point, "Well, we use to have a dog, but unfortunately he is no longer with us. So it couldn't be ours."
.
"Is his name Ziggy?"
.
I was stunned....."What!?"
.
"Well, his tags say his name is Ziggy and your number is listed on his tags. Like I said, where would I have gotten this number."
.
I am truly shocked and CONFUSED at this point now because that was our dog's name and not a common name. I am really starting to get confused, but my heart still jumped up, Ziggy....how could this be? I would love to see him again, could it really be him, we have missed him sooo much, but it can't be! I tried to calm my self down and get a hold of the situation...
.
"Wait....this can't be. Okay...lets just go over this again. Our family HAD a dog and his name was Ziggy, but this can't be him. I mean....is the dog you have a Mini Dachshund?"
.
"Ohhhhhhhh no, the dog I found is a Border Collie. Oh, what are the chances? Ha ha, your phone number, your dog's name, but not your dog! Okay, well sorry to bother you, I guess I will try contacting the vet."
.
.
I just hung up the phone and looked at it, seriously, what are the chances!? Same phone number, and same name, which again isn't common. In the end it was amusing, but still a little sad being reminded of our Ziggy and as silly as it was, I got my hopes up that it was him. Well, at least it was fun to think maybe and go through old videos! Hope this one cracks you all up as much as it does us :)

  4. What a cute dog, and I'm sure that he must have been hugely loved. The phone call must have been a big shock to you, I just hope that it didn't upset you too much.

    Crazy coincidence, though!

  6. That is totally weird! I would be shocked.

Ziggy looks like a very cute and sweet dog.

  7. This is really strange. Did your sweet little Ziggy pass away or is he lost? Either way, I am sorry.

Thanks for stopping by my bloggy blog, btw. Yours is dope!

  8. So sad! I was hoping it was your doggy too! :0) Wierd it had your phone number on the collar though....

  9. It sounds to me like someone found your beloved Ziggy's old collar and put it on their dog and then that dog wandered off.

That is so sad. I am sorry that it got your hopes up a little!

That footage of Ziggy is so cute! What an adorable little doggy!

  10. What a cruel twist of fate? I mean, SERIOUSLY? Same name and number and everything. Did someone steal his collar? Hmmm.. how strange!

My heart was racing there for a moment! I really thought your Ziggy had come back :(

  11. Actually it sounds like someone put your old tags on their new dog. What happened to the tags you had for Ziggy? I wonder if someone is using them so they don't have to pay lisense fess. Or maybe it is part of an international crime syndicate who is illegally trafficing in collies. That seems more likely than a really far out coincidence.

  12. Hey, I'm sorry. That is a very strnage thing to happen. I wonder where they did get the collar... Maybe it's fate, maybe you should take the dog!

  15. That is kinda "Twilight Zone-ish." I love dachsunds... had them when I was a kid. They have such wonderful personalities.

  16. Thanks for stopping by my blog! This is the saddest/weirdest thing! Maybe it's a sign to get another dog ?

We had to put our dog down in October and we miss her so much. I want another puppy, but want to wait until I squirt this second kid out and can bring the dog into the family with the kids already in place, ya know?

I've always loved weiner dogs, too, but my husband likes big dogs he can wrestle with. I said if I ever got one, I wanted to name him Franc and pronounce it like Martin short did in Father of the Bride!

I'm gonna add you to my reader - your posts are great!

  17. what a cutie!

Maybe this was Ziggy's way of checking in, saying hello and sending his love.

I don't like that rude woman.

My husband will not be happy although maybe he'll give in to that one ovee the third child one :-)

Thanks for your comment on my blog today. I love the name of your blog - I think I seriously need a Motherhood for Dummies tuition, most days!

  26. Now that Ziggy is a genius! If I could walk *and* stay in bed at the same time, wow, that would be sumpin'! So cute....

  27. That is SO crazy!

  28. I knew a couple who had a cat who disappeared for A YEAR and they got him back. Apparently, somebody picked him up thinking he was stray or something . . . and they were randomly driving home one night in an alternate route and they saw him. They thought, "Surely it isn't Tim." BUT IT WAS . . they opened the door to their car an he came running. And then when they got him home, he looked for his food bowl in the usual place. Weird, right?

    Aww . . I feel your animal-missing pain. I miss my cat, too! :-(

  32. Adore the Ziggy video, I so want a sausage dog! I would have been very freaked out by the phone call and it sounds like your collar and the person on the other end didn't sound nice at all

  35. It is a funny video. I'll have to send this to my sister-in-law and stepsister--both dachsund people. Sorry you're dog is not with you anymore.

Thanks for stopping by my place. I wish I would have lost those last lbs. before my baby was 13--but better late than never!
