Under Pressure - Works For Me Wed

Works For Me Wednesday

Ever since having my daughter I have definitely become more domesticated. I don't mean to say that I am bare foot and prego in the kitchen, but I have definitely been trying to use my "stay-at-home" time more valuable than sitting around watching all the seasons of "The Office". One of the biggest things I have been working on lately is my baking skills. What can I say? I am tired of baking crap in my oven. I think I am the only person on this Earth that has messed up No Bake Cookies. Seriously....I can be that bad sometimes. I guess I have better skills for eating cookies than making them. So, as you can see, I need some help.

That is where the Cookie Press comes into play. I have this beautiful contraption that looks like a caulking gun that allows you to simply place the dough into the holder, choose a pattern, squeeze the handle, and VOILA! You have your self a delectable, eatable, succulent cookie! They come out nice and easy. I especially love the smaller dainty size that they come out as. It is great because instead of eating some giant chocolate chipper you are nibbling on a cute little treat. But the down side is, that you can easily justify eating 20 because they are a smaller tasty little treat.

The Cookie Press comes with several different patterns that you screw easily onto the front. You can have anything from a butterfly cookie to a Christmas tree cookie to simple patterns or flowers. They taste great as a the plain ol' cookie or I like to dip them in chocolate to give them a nice addition of flavor and color.

The press isn't just for cookies. You can also double it as a frosting applicator. The press comes with a head and several different nozzles that can help give cookies, cakes, or truffles a nice pattern. I have used it several times for frosting and it does fairly good. The best suggest that I can give you though, is that you really need to use the Cookie Press with a silicon baking sheet. It does the best job for grabbing hold of the dough when you are trying to get it to stick to the pan.

.
So happy baking to you all out there and have fun with this new little toy. You can find them many places from Target to Bed Bath and Beyond, many for around $20; so start pressing away! :)

  2. You go girl! Too much work for me. My four sons would gobble them down and never notice the prettiness of it at all! LOL!

  3. These are so cute---I actually have a new set that I got via Freecycle but they are tucked away for 'Christmas Cookies'---I'm sure the kids would love to use it now, so I'm going to go dig it out.

  4. cool...it's that easy, eh? I saw one at a cooking party and thought about it...would make the annual bake sale a bit easier!!!

    Thanks for sharing!

  5. Awesome! My Mother always had one...I need to pick up one! The kids would love it too!

  6. I have one but haven't used it forever. You're right though, the cookies are excellent and so easy to make!

  7. I have never seen one of these, what a clever piece of kit. My carers sometimes make cookies, so maybe we should invest!

  8. I've always wanted one of these but don't bake cookies enough to make it justified yet. These are beautiful!

  9. I'll preface this by telling you that we are Jewish. My daughters and I used a similar product one Christmas and it was a disaster!!! The dough got clunky and stuck, the kitchen got destroyed. My 12 year old concluded that Jews inherently lack the skills to properly make Christmas cookies :)

Maybe next time we should try this machine. :)

  10. Those are neat - I've got one, but I'm usually not patient enough to use it... if you are getting into baking - I have a cookie recipe up today and a really easy, really yummy bread recipe up last Wednesday and a few weeks ago I posted a simple - one pan, don't even mess up a mixing bowl cake. Next week I'll be posting my no-bake cookie recipe - the secret is in letting the mixture boil long enough before you add the oatmeal and peanut butter.

    oops, I'm rambling again... sorry!

  11. Ok, so I have this cookie gun sitting on my counter currently. I tried it for frosting and it crapped out. I am excited to try it for cookies...I think I may do so today! You're my inspiration!
What kind of chocolate do you dip the cookies in? Like chocolate covered strawberry chocolate that hardens? Or just melted chocolate and let it sit?

  13. I've been wanting one of those too. My signature cookie recipe is cream cheese cookies. I posted it on my blog somewhere. I'll find it if you're interested. It's VERY easy, otherwise I wouldn't be doing it!

  18. I have a Wilton cookie press that I love. I use it a lot around the holidays. Great tip about the silicone mats though :)

  19. If I get a cookie press, does that mean I have to be in the kitchen? No thanks, then. I try and stay out of that room as much as possible.

  20. Ohh, you can also use metal cookie sheets that you either move outside into the cold during winter for like 20 minutes OR pop them in the freezer. That will help the dough stick too.

There's a pampered chef super easy recipe for those cookies...it uses a cake mix. I just tried to find it online but I'll try to remember to dig it out for you.

  24. I have never used one of those but I like kitchen gadgets...now, my only challenge if I get one is keeping play-doh out of it. My sons' can be kind of uh, creative at times.

  26. I actually have one of those... SOMEWHERE! LOL! I suppose I should pull it out? NAH.. I'm the one who'd eat THEM ALL just because they were so cute and tiny. LOL!

THANKS FOR THE REMINDER! That would make a fun "craft" type thing to do next time I have my niece here. =-)

  30. Thanks for the comment you left on my blog! I am enjoying reading yours. What a cute baby you have!! I was a stay at home mom and now my 3 boys are 20, 21 and 24.

I have an old cookie press that was my grandmother's. I haven't used it in a long time. But I've never used one of the newer ones like yours. Looks fun!

  32. I have one of those from pampered chef! I am definitely a baker. Although, I am better at bread and cakes than I am at cookies. I have messed up no-bake cookies on more than one occasion.

  33. You know what, I have one of those. I got it at a thrift store and it was never used. I need to get it out....thanks

  35. I just saw one today and contemplated getting it. I didn't know if I would have the patience to use it, wash it, etc. I make a ton of cookies and I usually just slop them onto a cookie sheet. I may just go back and buy it now.

    BTW- I LOVE The Office!!!

  36. My mom has one of those. Don't know if she's ever actually used it or not...but good to know it works great!

  37. I will have to try the silicone trick because mine never stick to the pan and I always give up before I even have a sheet full to put in the oven.
