haven't heard of most of those (not surprising as I'm rather lame at knowing song titles and artists), but I WILL say that ANYTHING Jack Johnson is FABULOUS. I have my kids obsessed as well and my three year old will pick out a Jack Johnson song on the radio in a split second, even if it's one we've never heard before! He knows the voice! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI'll have to bookmark this entry and youtube some of those titles! Thanks for the list!
Erasure is one of my favorite groups. Along with "A Little Respect", some of my other favorite songs by them are: "Blue Savannah", "Drama", "Ship of Fools", and "Chorus". If you don't already own it, their Best of CD "Pop! The First 20 Hits" is highly recommended.
ReplyDeleteHi there! Like you, music is a big part of my life and I have it on all the time :) I'll have to listen for the songs on your list--except for CCR, which is one of my all time favorite bands. I love Up Around The Bend!
ReplyDeleteI get Rockstar going through my head and then can't get it out!
ReplyDeleteYou have GREAT taste!!!
ReplyDeleteNow I need to update my IPod!
We have the same taste in music. I love a lot of the artists you've listed!
ReplyDeletePosts like these make me sad. I've been a mom for so long that all I get to listen to is kids songs. If its not by Hannah Montann or the Jonas Brothers than I've never heard of it. I'm going to have to check these ones out.
ReplyDeleteWe were thinking about coming next summer after Chris graduates.
ReplyDeleteA Little Respect is one of my all-time favorites. I LOVE that song. I actually run to that song. So great!
ReplyDeleteThat is a fab list!
I don't know some of those but others are some of my favorites. I love CCR and am a music lover in general! I'll have to check some of those out.
ReplyDeleteI guess we share some of the same likes in music!
ReplyDeleteI try to discover... a little something to make me.... I can't remember anymore of it, but Respect by Erasure was one of my absolute FAVORITES in high school.
ReplyDeleteKEEP BELIEVING
Fabulous List!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your playlist with us. I wish mine currently included more "adult" songs. :-)
I am not sure if "Working on the Railroad" counts.
I love Move Along. It's one of the best running songs I've got on my running playlist. I haven't heard a lot of these others but might have to check them out!
ReplyDeleteIs Jack Johnson that guy who got all of that plastic surgery?
ReplyDeleteokay if you want to let your inner teenager out in you... you have to search for Jesse McCartney's song
ReplyDelete"leavin"
He's a dream boat!
p.s. on youtube
ReplyDeleteI've only heard a couple of those songs. Great list! Happy TT
ReplyDeleteHere's a random weird song for you to check out: Portishead is the band and the song is NUMB.
ReplyDeleteOk, kid music does suck. I agree . . . except the Caillou song. Admit it - once you hear it, you keep internally singing it! (Ok, the song sucks, too, but it's CATCHY!)
ReplyDeleteLove these songs, what a great idea! Maybe I'll post some of mine, too. I saw in your profile that you like Settlers of Catan, my husband and I were introduced to this game 2 years ago by some friends and LOVE IT! We're so addicted to it, our friends and family are starting to make up excuses not to come over because they know they're going to get roped into a game!
ReplyDeleteAlso, have you checked out the http://hearitloveitshareit.blogspot.com Blog? It's full of great suggestions for kids' music that moms will like, too!
ReplyDeleteThat's a nice healthy variety. I'll have to check out Jack Johnson - I've heard a lot about him lately.
ReplyDeleteGreat bunch of songs! Jack Johnson is awesome. They play him a lot here on the radio. We're lucky in that our kids are pretty agreeable in what they'll listen to and willing to listen to stuff we like as well. I'm sick of Hannah Montana and HSM too, but the girl also likes folk, rock, and show tunes. Go figure! The boy's a bit pickier.., but no top 40 for him either.
ReplyDeleteHappy TT!
HEY! I've recently downloaded a few of those myself! Love your list! I'll have to listen to the others you've listed! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteA friend of mine from England just sent me a new artist that is all the rage over there.
ReplyDeleteIt's been so refreshing to check out some new music, that's upbeat and fun!
I have not heard most of these (except ROCKSTAR, it was my ringtone for a while). I'm off to check out itunes; thanks for the suggestions!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I nominate you to have another baby. You have soooo many good ideas. Where do you find the time?
ReplyDeleteLove Your List! I am copying it, so I can find the ones I don't know. I feel exactly like you do about searching for music. Have you heard of Mika.. You would probably love his song- grace kelley! It's on my blog
ReplyDeletehttp://luluspetals.blogspot.com2008_02_01_archive.html scroll down to grace kelley.
I have only heard of Erasure out of your list. I can always look some of the other bands on youtube. It's fun to check out new songs!
ReplyDeleteI don' know why but my MP3 player FILLED WITH Gary Allan songs and songs like "If I die before I wake, feed Jake." lol
ReplyDeleteIt is spring, these are my horseback riding songs! :-)
OMG Erasure LOL That's one of my favorite songs and actually pretty much all on your list are my faves :)
ReplyDeleteI've completely lost touch with current music since we got an Ipod a few years ago. We started listening to it in the car instead of the radio, so I'm stuck in the '90's. I'll have to check out some of these songs.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog. I had just posted a picture of Colter in a "stud muffin" shirt when I read your comment calling him a stud! :)
Great list ...I think! I only hear what my kids listen to which ranges from Trace Adkins to HS Musical Soundtrack to "Wheels on the Bus". Atleast I have diversity-right?
ReplyDeleteYou know you are a mom when you are driving down the road, singing to the top of your lungs to a Kids Sing-a-Long CD, and you realize you are alone in the car. Alone and singing Kidz Bop! Go figure!
I love Fountains of Wayne
ReplyDeleteI love Matchbox Twenty. If you want a good song and haven't heard it yet, listen to "Hard to Concentrate" by Red Hot Chili Peppers.
ReplyDeleteYea I love erasure...sooo good
ReplyDeleteThat is so funny, I am working on a post about music (probably for next week). I was going to do a "What MomAdvice is Listening To" because I love to share new music with other people.
ReplyDeleteThat Dashboard Confessionals album...LOVE IT! I could listen to it all day on repeat. Such angst, such passion.
Huge fan of Jack Johnson too!
We have some favorite songs in common. Especially Move Along.
ReplyDeleteI'm thrilled you don't feel like dancing either--proves what good taste you have :)
ReplyDeleteDang, I forgot how you always had the best music when I lived with you that year!! I still have a bunch of the cds that I burned off your computer . . . Good stuff.
