Weight Watchers

WFMW

My sweet daughter is 9 months old now. Wow, 9 months old, 9 months ago I gave birth to her, 9 months before that I was pregnant with her, and 9 months before that... I HAD A KICKIN' BODY and I miss it! Seriously! Before I had Lucy I ate great, ran 3 miles everyday, and found excuses to be outside to bike, roller blade or jog. I loved working out.... loved it!

But now 18 months have gone by and 60 pounds have been added on and guess what.... I am missing my old body.... I want it back... and I am going to get it back. All during my pregnancy, no matter what I did, I couldn't stop gaining weight, but what is worse it that I haven't been able to loose it either. I have tried working out , tried eating better, and even tried to see if there were health issues making a difference, like a thyroid problem and such.

I have been getting pretty worked up and upset with my situation. I have never had a weight issue, but I have always been one of the girls thinking I could always stand to lose some pounds, and man oh man... I should have appreciated it, because now I can't seem to loose a single pound and I still fit into my maternity pants.

Well, I was talking with my friend one day, well I should say she was listening to me patiently while I went off on my situation, then she suggested I should try Weight Watchers. She apparently had done it after her second kid and it did great for her. I was hesitant, but it seemed to work for her, but I was nervous about their so called "weight ins" and learning a whole diet thing, but she assured me she loved it and I should give it a go.... so, I did.

A few weeks ago I joined Weight Watchers and even from my first day there I fell in love with it. When you walk in there are sweet friendly people there ready to greet you and to help you. They have friendly leaders who themselves have gone through Weight Watchers and have their own success stories. What really surprised me was that everyone there was not there to loose weight, I mean most people were, but there were a bit of people there trying to be taught how they can live a healthier lifestyle.

It really has been a great experience so far and the best part is, is that Weight Watchers is NOT a diet, it is a way to live a healthy lifestyle. They are not telling you to stay away from certain foods or carbs are the devil (because honestly how could carbs be the devil... they taste sooo good), but they are trying to show you how to get what you need to eat in a day. You get to choose what you eat, when you eat, and at what speed you want to go.

After only two days of following Weight Watchers I had already noticed how bad my eating habits were and how much more I needed to exercise, in a few more days I was already feeling better and healthier, and by the end of the week I had lost nearly 2 pounds. I was so excited because this is the first thing that has worked, been good for me, the healthiest option, and something that makes sense. Cause duhh..... go figure, eating healthy food, with healthy portions, and having a balanced NOT EXTREME diet, why wouldn't it work?

For anyone of you that have been thinking about loosing weight or even just wanting to help your self live a healthier life, give Weight Watchers a try. The first meeting is free and if you want to sign up they have a weekly price, a packaged weekly pass (for about 10 weeks), or a pay per month pass. With signing up you will get all the information you need to know how healthy a food is, what it's point value is (every food has a point value and you are allowed to eat your allotted points everyday), and to figure out how much your exercise did for you. There is even a web tool that lets you plug in your own recipes and it will calculate how many points a serving is.

If you are interested in checking out their website you can click HERE or, if you are interesting in finding a Weight Watchers meeting then you can click HERE. Honestly, if anyone has any questions feel free to email me and I would love to answer them. Hopefully you will all like it, like I have. I also will be keeping up on my progress from now and again and my success with Weight Watchers.

  2. Ha! I am a WW junkie as well! I really love how it gives me the ability to choose: Eat good size meals through out the day OR eat less and drink a few beers at night OR eat less to compensate for Fries. I know that THAT is not the WW full mentality but I like that it is not deprevation.

  3. I joined Weight Watchers after every baby. It is the best plan. Healthy and easy once you get the hang of it. I love their recipes. If you just change a few things you can eat almost anything. Good Luck

  4. Good for you! Almost 17 months later, I still have about 10-13 lbs to go until pre-baby. I started The Zone a few weeks ago and am really enjoying it. Keep us posted on your WW experience!

  5. Good for you! I have been a WW for about 3 years now, not counting the time that I was pregnant. I got within 3 pounds of my goal weight before we started trying to get pregnant.

Now I'm within 10 again, which is pretty good considering how terrible I ate for six months after he was born. lol

Good luck to you! :) We'll have to swap recipes here and there.

it's weird isn't it...the nine month mark where you start to really feel like something must change.

we just hit it a few days ago...

    something must change and soon!

  7. Good for you! Mia is about to turn 6 months old and I have already started to feel like something must change and soon. It might be that we are leaving to go on vacation to the beach next weekend and I have to think about getting into a swimsuit. Anyway, maybe I will check WW out. I have had success with South Beach and disciplined exercise, but it is soooo much harder to get to the gym with two kids in tow.
    Good luck to you!

  8. Good luck! I so need to go back. Before my babies I went and lost 79 pounds with WW. I kept it off for almost 3 years - then had 3 babies in 38 months...and well, I need to go back! Thanks for the push...

  9. I am totally still in my maternity pants too. If it takes much longer, I may have to look into this!

  10. I always thought I should lose weight pre-kids and now I realize how stupid I was. I had a rockin body and would kill to get it back!

    Good luck on your endeavors.

  11. I have talked to A LOT of people that swear by WW. I did Atkins after Bean. It worked and I did well after that.
Of course I don't do Atkins anymore but I am doing oretty well still. I need to tone up but that means getting off my bootie.
I am so proud of you!

  12. I've seriously been considering WW. All I have heard is great things. Maybe this will be my push to actually do it. Good luck!

  13. At least I am not the only one with this problem! It doesn't make it any easier to deal with though. I will keep checking on your progress and then maybe I will go join too! Good luck!

  14. I've been thinking about doing Weight Watchers. I went to their website after reading your post, and there are meetings in my area. My husband's company just sent me a 1/2 off coupon to join. I don't want to do it until I'm ready, and I'm not sure how much I can do while I'm breastfeeding, but I am definitely considering it. How's that for being indecisive!

  16. I did WW online and lost 7 pounds in 3 weeks. The third week I found out I was pregnant with the one I just popped out. In a few more weeks, I'm back to it. I've got about 20 to get off and it's GOING. After three kids, I'm definitely in dire need of toning and such. ;oD good luck!

  17. I did WW after my 2nd baby and lost all my wieght and all the weight from baby #1. I feel exactly the same way you do about the plan. Now that I am not breast feeding, it is much harder though. I need to get back into it. I do it online though and not to a meeting. I love the recipe ideas online!

  19. I loved WW when I did it. You are right, it's not a diet. It really is something you can follow for life!
Good luck at your next weigh in!

  20. M for D, good for you. I'm actually a lifetime member of weight watchers but I've exceeded my goal again and I'm trying to get back down to it, not real successfully. I write a Weight Loss Wednesday post every Wednesday to try to keep myself a little more accountable. I've only lost a pound and a half in the last month, but at least I'm moving in the right direction. I think WW is a good program. Glad it's working for you. Good luck!!

  21. Good luck with the mission. I for one think exercise is the key. BUt that requires childcare (thank god for free kiddie care at the Y). If you can try pilates. After two babes, it's the only thing that is helping my tummy.

  23. Weight Watchers seriously rocks. I've seen it do wonderful things for people. And, the one thing it has over most other programs and diets...is SUPPORT. Those group meetings where people share and support are wonderful. :o)

  24. Ugh! The baby weight...so hard to get rid of.

I have heard only good things about WW. Maybe I will look into it myself.

  25. I had just started weight watchers when nothing else seemed to be working. Lo and behold, I found that I did actually have a sluggish thyroid, so now I'm on meds. So between getting on the medicine and starting again on WW, I am ready to lose the pounds.

  26. Okay, it's like looking in the mirror weird. My baby is now 9 months old, I gained 60 lbs during my pregnancy with him too, and I can't get rid of it. Crazy! Weight Watchers is a good idea, I just can't afford it, so I am just trying to watch what I eat, and do some exercise while the baby sleeps. Good luck on your goals. I am about 15-20 lbs away from getting back to my pre-pregnancy body, and I have one of those weight resistant bodys. Once I gain weight, my body hangs onto it for dear life! Good luck!

  27. I don't really need to loose weight but Hubby does. I'm not complaining, I don't care what he looks like, but he does have some health issues that weight affects. I tried to talk him into joining together but he shot me down. I don't really know how to cook well for him so that's why I thought it would be good for me to join as well. I don't know what to do. I don't want to nag and sound like his weight bothers me, but I am concerned about his cholesterol. Maybe I'll try again.

  28. I feel your pain. I manage to gain 50-60 lbs every pregnancy no matter what I do.

I joined WW last year and am 5 lbs from my goal weight. It feels good just to be healthier.

Wishing you well with it all. I think you look great.

  29. If you lose the weight after the babies but then immediately gain it back again, can you still call it baby weight?

I started back on weight watchers this week. I have had a lot of success with the program before but have had trouble maintaining the losses.

I am looking forward to following your journey and hope it will encourage me as I start back on mine.

  30. Awesome - thanks for sharing. I'm 7 months since my baby was born and now due to stress eating I'm starting to gain back some of the weight that I've already lost! How frustrating! I totally support you and I'll be cheering you on ... Good luck and way to go! :)
