It is nice to have so many options these days. Never did I imagine that at McDonald I could actually order a SALAD... my old version of a healthy choice at Mc-a-D's would be asking for a diet coke instead of a regular (it did NOT help me loose weight) :)
Places like Burger King, Wendy's, McDonalds, and such are all starting to offer some healthier choices... especially when it comes to the children. Burger King right now has been introducing a fun new option called "BK Fresh Apple Fries" and they are how they sound. It is honestly genius! Burger King simply took apples and cut them to look like fries. My husband and I tried them and it was crazy how much they looked like french fries, until you pick them up and it is cold and wet (like an apple). They look like fries so much that it was kind of odd trying them, I kept waiting for that potatoie-fry taste.
.
I really love these Apple Fries not just because they are a healthy option, but a fun one too. With the apples cut like fries it is definitely more interesting then a boarding old apple. Also it helps to keep the mess down. Your children get to eat an apple without having to worry about old apple cores rotting away int he back seat.
The Apple Fries even come with some yummy packaged carmel sauce; it is a healthy low-fat carmel sauce. I find this especially nice because it also helps to eliminate spilling in the car when you are on the go. Can you tell I worry about the neatness of my car?
So, if you are looking for a health fresh option for a quick meal, the Fresh Apple Fries are something you might want to try.

That IS genius! My kids like apples, but they also get bored with the same old "slices" presentation. This is a cool twist that I think they would get a kick out of. We'll go check it out! :o)
ReplyDeleteThose sound awesome! I wonder how long it will take until they are in Canada?
ReplyDeleteI really hope apple fries catch on!
ReplyDeletei have seen several posts about these and wrote my own, they really are great !! i don't even tell my kids about the sauce - they just love those apple fries. way to go burger king
ReplyDeleteI have not tried these yet, but my kids do love apples. I am sure they would like them. I have a feeling the first time I get apple fries for my kids they will look at me and say. "What, where are the real fries?"
ReplyDeleteYummie! My son absolutely loves these. What a great idea the people at McDonalds came up with to sneak some fruit into their meals!
ReplyDeleteI mean, good job Burger King. Hahaha!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to see healthy options for kids meals these days. My kids actually like the apples better than the fries, thank goodness.
ReplyDeleteWe love those apple fries...my son likes them better than McDonalds!
ReplyDeleteI've seen them but I have never ordered them. I'd never known anyone who tried them. I like the option of a fruit cup at some places too!
ReplyDeleteWe went to BK last night because we needed something in a hurry and I was excited about the new kid options. I was NOT excited about the M&C meal costing $3.49 PLUS an extra $.49 for the apple fry option. Not that I'm that crazy over McDonald's, but they don't charge extra when my daughter chooses the apples.
ReplyDeleteThat's great! I haven't heard of these. I will have to give them a try next time!
ReplyDeleteMy hubby and I discovered these on our trip home from his sister's wedding the other week. We LOVED them! So great with the kids in the car! I've even tried cutting my own "apple fries" here at home.
ReplyDeleteWow! Great idea. Sounds yummy.
ReplyDeleteBTW, McDonald's Southwest Salad is very yummy!
We haven't tried those yet but we do LOVE the apple dippers at McDonald's - so much that Riley will sometimes ask for them at home. But at home we usually slice them up and dip in PB.
ReplyDeleteAm I a bad mom for never giving her the carmel sauce though? I don't think she even knows it exists.
looks sooo yummy!!
ReplyDeleteadding to my must try list :)
My kids always get the apples when we got out to eat. I'm glad that they have that option.
ReplyDeletemy kids are big fans of apples and caramel dipping sauce...
ReplyDeletewhat a great option to have . I hate the salty fries but I still could have something with my burger.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea... sadly I do not think it will appealto the older ones... my 3 year old would love 'em though!!
ReplyDeleteYUM. I might have to make a trip and try to stay away from that moosepie thingy.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering about those. Very tricky. ;)
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to try those! I'm glad they're good.
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting to try them, but haven't been too pleased with fast food places lately. But good to know you like them. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThey sound great we don't have them over here yet but look forward to it. Love the sound of the cake in the below post too....

Okay.. please go and find out how we can make apple fries in our own kitchen. Is there a cool kind of tool? Like the Pampered Chef apple slicer... is there a fry slicer?
ReplyDeleteSomeone go find out and let me know!
I haven't seen these. What a great idea! I bet kids love them too.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to have the reference on these....I didn't know how they were!
ReplyDeleteI had heard about these, but wondered if they were fried apples. Sounds good, too bad we never go to BK. We're a CFA (Chick-fil-A) family.
ReplyDeleteI am glad to hear of this - I learned this week Wendy's now has yogurt squeezers for a side. May n=be old news, but I just saw it here this week.
ReplyDeleteWe tried these the other day and my son thought they were great! We can still get apple slices at McDonalds, but there's something about the name "apple fries" and the packaging that make them exciting.
ReplyDeleteNow I've been cutting up the apples at home into fry shapes, too!
We love our apple fries!
ReplyDeleteYUM!
How do they get them to stay so fresh and not turn brown?
What are they putting on them?
Just curious.+
