Leave it to southern California to have a restaurant for babies.... yep... you heard me. A RESTAURANT FOR BABIES. Pomme BeBe apparently is for the real guilt stricken mothers who feel like caring, feeding, playing, protecting, and loving their babies is just NOT enough.
This all organic, completely "green" kitchen styled restaurant is for the chic-est of babies. When Gerber's mashed carrots are no longer up to par for your babies taste buds, moms can now take them into Pomme BeBe so they can have that mashed dribble washed away with their Chicken Pot Pie or Apricot-Kiwi-Pear puree. You know what? I made Kiwi-Pear-Apricot puree once... I took Kiwi, Pear, Apricot... and well... mixed them together :)
And if the stainless steel chairs, organic food, and the art deco setting is not enough to tempt you or make you gag, Pomme BeBe even has an award winning chef that has over 22 years of experience. I don't know about you, but I don't even think I have eaten from a chef with that much experience. Once I have tasted something with that kind of skills behind it, then I'll let Lucy have some. And is it just a tad sad that someone with culinary awards and mastered years of experience is now serving up the silver.... no PLATINUM-spooned children of Southern California? He should be at least working at Taco Bell... or should I say... Taco Belle. .
So, let me ask you all... honestly, would any of you go to Pomme BeBe?

Heck no!! I would never spend that kind of money on a meal for a baby that is just as happy with scrounging cheerios off of the floor. How can that chef even hold his head up in public? He takes his really nice food and then places it in a blender, wow now that is some mad cooking skillz.

ReplyDeleteWe have something similar near hear, but it looks more like a place for kids. I've been meaning to check it out. It doesn't look to be as fru fru as the place in your post.

No way! That's just taking it too far. It is a shame the chef is wasting his 22 yrs of experience on this but I'm guessing he must be making some good money to do so. Oh well, to each his own I guess.
ReplyDeleteJust so I could take pictures and show my friends! I did the same thing at the American Doll store in Chicago where they have a beauty salon for the dolls and the women were styling the dolls hair; it was too fun to pass up!

ReplyDeleteIs this for real? I would think experience would disqualify a chef for this job. Can he handle Cheerios? I would want to know if has plenty of single ingredient dishes since that's all my kids would ever eat. This is too funny.
ReplyDeleteHa - oh my, I can definitely say no I wouldn't take my sweetie there. Can you imagine what the chef's resume might say now........3 years of experience puree'ing and stirring various fruits and vegetables........

ReplyDeleteThat is ridiculous. I, myself, have a personal chef for my kids with 85 years of experience. She plants all the fruits/veggies herself and then takes a nap. Then she mixes the food together and takes a nap. Sometimes I think parents can be too lazy, but not me. Only the best for my kids.

ReplyDeleteI think this is for Hollywood moms who don't spend enough time with their kids so they sooth the guilt with outlandish activities, gifts, and stuff. I don't think much of a chef who can only use a blender. Hey kids! Can you say, "conspicuous consumption"? I knew you could.
ReplyDeleteHeck yah I would take my baby there... if it were free. That is the coolest thing ever... if it were free. I would never in a million years pay someone to feed my child foods that I could give him by whipping out my baby food grinder. But those chairs are pretty nifty looking, aren't they?

ReplyDeleteWow. Yeah, that is pretty ridiculous. But I agree with Mandy - if my family and I were traveling, going there and taking pics of my babe with her $25 plate (Well, I don't know how much the stuff costs, but I'm guessing outrageous) of sweet potatoes might be a fun tourist-y thing to do.

I can honestly say NO. That is crazy. I wonder what the price is for a dinner for 1 since the rest of my family doesn't eat baby food. So I guess I would have to take my 7 month daughter out then the rest of the family out right after. I am wondering if this chef says that he/she has 22 years of experience if that means 22 years of cooking for he/she family. Or maybe he/she worked at Gerger for 22 years or at an old folks home with people who had no teeth. How hard is it to puree food in a blender. Do you really need a culinary degree for that?

Every day - hello. I personally detest peeling, chopping, and blending. Who wants to get their hands all dirty and gross? Too much effort for me. I'd rather watch someone else go through the process and pay a mere $4 a cup! Or I can send my nanny to take the kiddies out for a stroll and grab a bite to eat at Pomme Bebe. And the stainless steel seating would be way better for the baby than my gross crusty high chair in none other than PLASTIC... I could be leaching all sorts of chemicals to poor baby at home. So I am a little cynical. I think I would go if I went out to lunch with the girls and we all decided to try it out for fun for the babes. The prices are not horrible. Really. It is an interesting concept. I can handle making my own at home for now - or even buy them for a dollar and change more at the grocery store. Not that we'd EVER see a place like that show up in Alaska! Hahahahahaha.

Also glad to hear that so many moms out there make their own baby food – which is so much better than anything you can buy in a jar. Did you know that baby food jars (even the organic ones) have a shelf life of more than 2 years? That’s older than the baby eating the food! Even though making baby purees sounds like a simple thing, I know a lot of moms who just don’t have the time – me included! We are just so busy! That is why I started this – an option for something much healthier and fresher than you can find in a grocery store. Our Chef is an old friend of mine and is about to have a baby of his own soon. He has created wonderful purees and uses his expertise to “hide” healthy ingredients in foods that kids love. For example our turkey meatballs have broccoli puree, but don’t ask the kids about the green stuff. They just love the taste. They also love the fun décor of our store. I guess anything to get to “open wide” and eat healthy!
