Who Needs the Bullet Blender When You Have...

So, here we are....another wednesday, another give-away. What can I say....I just had so much fun doing this last week that I want to do it again. So this time I decided to give something that is a little more on the cutting edge....... can you guess it?

AN ULU KNIFE!

Ha ha....get it....cutting edge....KNIFE. Oh man...I really think that my husband's humor is rubbing off on me. But, I'm sure a lot of you are wondering what an ulu is. Well, first it is pronounced oooooo-loo; ooooo like boo. They are an Inuit (native Alaskan) tool that were originally used for hunting, fishing, cleaning hides and so forth. But now they are very common and VERY useful in the kitchen.

Great for cutting herbs, onions, slicing, and all kinds of dicing things. Plus is usually comes with a cutting board that has a groove in it to place your herbs and such. You then place the ulu in it and rock back and forth. Most of my friends just love them and hopefully one of you lucky people will too!

So again, the rules are:
You have till this friday by midnight to enter
You need to be in the U.S. (I'm sorry I wish I could include people out of the U.S, but it is fairly expensive)

So leave a comment if you want to be put in for the drawing and we will have a winner picked by saturday's post. Good luck!

On a nice side note, you all should pop over to my friend Michelle's blog. She just posted a very touching story about a mother she heard at a lecture that is dealing with and over-coming some serious hardship. I thought it was truly inspirational and it made me very thankful. Hopefully you all will read it and will all be touched like I was.

  2. Looks great. Though I would have to hide it from my son. Him and knives have a bad history.

  18. That was a fascinating story.

I would LOVE the ulu and want to be in the drawing. Besides the fact that I love kitchen tools is the fact that I will look super cool to my boys if I use a knife like this.

  19. I learned on a children's show on PBS called, "Postcards from Buster" (I was watching with my boys) that the native Alaskan's feel it is a racial slur to call them, "Eskimos" and that they want to be known as, "Inuit". Isn't educational programming great! I would never have known that until I watched PBS or...until I read your blog! :) How cool to have a giveaway that is from an Inuit tradition! You are so great!
