I don't buy snack food very often. I don't like having it around the house and I don't really like it all that much. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love potato chips just as much as the next person. But not really enough to buy them and have then around the house tempting me day in and day out. Making me find ways to justify eating sour cream & onion chips for breakfast. So, if I ever do buy snacks, I am a big fan of anything "mini"; like mini muffins, mini oreos, even mini donuts. I think it just makes me feel better eating something smaller, plus then I can eat more of something. Think about it....you can either eat 1 normal donut ORRRRRR 4 smaller ones. Oh yea...I will pick the 4. So as you can see through my weird rationalization, I like the bite size.
Well the other day I was walking through the grocery store shopping for the week and my eyes beheld something beautiful......... MINI VANILLA WAFERS! Oh I was sooo excited. I love those little flaky cookies and in min form!! Amazing! So naturally I picked up a box and was excited to have my first munching session with them. I got into my car and started driving home,
"Growwwlllll asdas-food-asdassd -hungry-asjseh".
My stomach was trying to tell me something...so I listened and took this opportunity to enjoy my mini wafers. I popped open the box, grabbed a handful and started grazing. I pulled in to the house and unload the food and put Lucy down for her nap. I figured I needed a break and put in a movie. I was just going to rest and be a little lazy during her snooze. I grabbed my wafers, got settled in, and started the movie. I fell asleep during the flick and got up and started cleaning up a little. I spied my wafers again and think, "Oh just one more handful". Then that is when I heard it...
Srape srape
I look in the box....empty!
Dang it.....how many handfuls did I have!?!?! So much for MY snacking theory.

LOL! I do this with the thinsations. So much so, I've had to stop buying them.
ReplyDeleteHeidi
Thats the trouble with tasty food!
ReplyDeleteI did your bag meme (yesterday) as you asked so nicely!!! :)
I totally know what you are saying! Over the weekend I have managed to devour most of a double batch of shortbread - awful, but very delicious!
ReplyDeleteThere's never enough of the good stuff! Too funny!
ReplyDelete...and THAT is why I don't have snack food around the house, either. :-)
ReplyDeleteLOL! One step at a time... I can't buy junk food or I eat it... I have no self-control... if it is in the house... it's free to eat... that could be why I'm not getting rid of the baby fat now that Drew is 9 months old...
ReplyDeletethats funny. For me, I have to know when the last one is eaten or I have no closure on it being gone. I didnt get to enjoy the last one. I HAVE to know
ReplyDeleteha ha ha...:) Sounds like MY snacking philosophy.
ReplyDeleteYes, sounds like me. I started making my own '100 calorie packs' of things so I can realize how much 'just a little bit' can add up to. I too do love things in mini!
ReplyDeleteMini-snacks are super dangerous, I agree! Nilla Wafers are yummy, I haven't seen the mini ones. I try to avooid those snack aisles until I have to buy team snack for baseball or soccer or something. Speaking of which...I have to do that today! Target here I come...I'll end up spending $200 though, I just know it...
ReplyDeleteOh, don't I know this. I ate an entire bag of Flipz chocolate pretzels without blinking. Luckily have another to fatten me up today. We'll see how good I am at willpower.
ReplyDeleteThe only way that I can buy and eat snacks if I split the box into small Ziplock bags and eat one bag a day. If not, I turn in a snack-a-holic and will eat through boxes of crackers, chips, pretzels. You name the snack food, and I like it.
ReplyDeleteYeah, if I am going down the route, I find they need to be in individually wrapped serving sizes. Otherwise, I have to grab a serving, put it in a bowl and walk away from the package. Usually, I just put the bag on the counter and get a handful as I walk by. I find reasons to walk by all day. Reasons like - I want a handful of whatever is in that bag. I know, I am not very creative.
ReplyDeleteKEEP BELIEVING
Heh - I have that same problem. It's not reduced fat if I eat 50 of them, right?
ReplyDelete♥ That's funny! Yay for a little nap though! :)
ReplyDeleteI love your blog, you have such cute ideas and great recipes, I'm deffinatley going to have to do the wooden letters for my boys' rooms.
ReplyDeleteI hate whenthat happens! LOL :)
ReplyDeleteToo funny! I have to limit snacks in our house too. I try to put snacks in a bowl or baggie so I know how much I am eating and try to limit myself.
ReplyDeleteIf they were half the size, then you only ate half the box. That's my theory, and I'm sticking to it!
ReplyDeleteI'm with ya on this one... I get those '100 calories' snack packs and then eat two or three of them. If you break it up like that it's not so bad... right?
ReplyDeleteI wish snacks were as good for you as vegetables. Are you going to play along with the 7 interesting things about you? Email me your address if you want the purse or the bracelet. Julie at The Land of Lost Luggage didn't say if she wanted the purse. Thanks for visiting! Happy Monday! Hugs, T
ReplyDeleteYeah, I buy the reduced fat nilla wafers and put reduced fat peanut butter on them....
ReplyDeleteall of them...
each one of them....
Yeah,....feels so good to be eating healthier.....
yeah.....
I totally loved this while I was preggos. Whole boxes would disapper, magically.
ReplyDeleteOh I never do that--at least I haven't done that today ;)
ReplyDeleteahhh... and the mini ones just TASTE better then the full size ones. dont know how, they JUST DO!!
ReplyDeleteThat is exactly how I am with Pringles. Waht is their line, "Once you pop, you can't stop." Totally true!
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteHow true it is, although I have to say that I have that problem with kit kats. I buy the small ones, and then if I think about how many small ones I had during the day, it was probably more than 2 whole ones!
It's a no win situation I tell ya!
I just need to strap on a feed bag when I find a snack food that I adore....that way I can continually eat and multi-task ;)
ReplyDeleteI am with you on the "mini" sizes. They just ARE better. And the guilt...lessened.
ReplyDeleteI did with a box of wheat thins one time... LOL!!! That's funny!
ReplyDeleteWere you like me, and your first thought upon realizing the box was empty was NOT "oh no! I ate the whole box!" but more along the lines of "Darn it! I wish there was just one more bite!" (or somewhere in the middle???) LOL
Thanks for sharing that story!
I hear ya sistah! I love minis, too, but they don't always help me stay "mini"!
ReplyDeleteI love Nilla wafers...especially in vanilla pudding that has been left in the fridge overnight. The nilla wafers turn into a cakey consistency...mmmmmmmmmmmm
ReplyDeleteMy in laws are always teasing me for baking small cookies and cutting my brownies into little squares. I know I eat just as much, but if feels like more.
ReplyDeleteThis would be the reason I don't keep Doritos around my house.
ReplyDeleteOh, I've done that before. Hate it when that happens!
ReplyDeleteIt was the snack gnomes I am sure!! There is no way that you ate the whole box...
ReplyDeleteOf course that is what I told Hubby when all of the girl scout cookies disappeared too.
This was too funny! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteIt is an easy thing to do! Enjoy while you can. Pretty soon your daughter will be fighting you for them. :)
ReplyDeletesnacks have a habit of disappearing on me too
ReplyDelete( Literally ON me!) I didn't know they made MINI's?

Ooh, and then you can make mini banana puddings with them!
ReplyDeleteI am powerless against the call of the vanilla wafers. :)
