Sharks or Guillotines - The Widom of Children

We had some family over for dinner last night and listening to some of the conversation that we were having with the kids made me more excited to have Lucy grow up and start talking.

David - "Aunt Melissa, what would be more scarier; going to the guillotines or being eaten by sharks?"

Me - "Oh hands down...sharks!"

David - "SEE!!! I told you DAD!"

Andrew/Dad - "Well at least with the sharks you have a fighting chance"

Grace - "Well, David didn't say attacked by sharks he said eaten by sharks"

Michelle/Mom - "Yea yea he did say eaten"

Me - "Well, how scary would it be the be attacked by sharks WHILE going to the guillotine?!"

David - "That couldn't happen, sharks can't be at the guillotine"

Me - "Well, then you really wouldn't be expecting them there and THAT would make it really scary"

  1. This is very reminiscent of the types of conversations we have around the dinner table. I'm glad we're not alone :)

  2. That was great! It will be so funny when your little one starts to talk...I simply can't believe some of the things that come out of my boys' mouths.

  4. Well...I'm not real crazy about either one, but if we're talking death, I'd go with the guillotine too.

  5. Sharks would definitely be worse! At least the guillotine would be one swift motion and then it would be done and over with!

  6. I think if I had a choice, I'd pass on both! :)

  9. Hello, this is my first visit to your blog so i just wanted to take a moment to say hi.
    You're daughter is adorable!
I noticed on your profile that you're a fan of Settlers of Catan! I'm so excited to hear that there are other Settler fans out there! =) My husband introduced me to the game and we love having friends over to play it.

  11. I love the way kid think. That's one of the reasons I started my blog...to remember the funny things they say.

    Thanks for visiting today.

  14. Man kids say some very funny things. I really couldn't imagine an underwater guillotine or a land shark. Sharks are scary though... I've been way to close, and they scare me to death.
