CORN BEEF & CABBAGE
Oh I love it, this is seriously my favorite thing to eat and one of my favorite things to make. All you need to get is...
-Corn Beef
-Ginger Ale
-Cabbage
Simply buy any size corn beef you want. Remember that they shrink a lot, so get one that looks bigger than what you normally would want.
Open the beef and place it fat side up, then pour the ginger ale over it till the dish is about half full, then place the seasonings (if given with the corn beef you bought) on top of the meat. Then cut up your cabbage and place as much as you want in the left over space, you can seriously PACK IT IN. Simply cover with tin foil and put in the oven for the amount of time and degree that the instructions state.
It will come out soooo tender and juicy. It is best cut against the grain always. So remember this wonderful recipe on the mornin' of your St. Patrick's Day lassies! Corn beef, ginger ale, pour, sprinkle, cook!

Also the winner of this weeks give-away is blogger Janet from Adventures in the 32-Aker Wood. Congratulations Janet and I hope you love your Alaskan Ulu!
I'm a fan of cabbage, but not of corned beef, so that ones not for me! Saw an interesting clip on the breakfast news this morning, apparently as its Easter Week next week, and people should be thinking about Jesus not a Saint, St Patrick's Day has been moved by the Church to Sunday not Monday!!
ReplyDeletethis is a favorite in my house - but I have never used ginger ale..will try it. I also add onions and carrots!
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing!
Top of the day to you!
Loved the title! You crack me up! I didn't know to use gingerale, either...
ReplyDeleteJust what the doctor ordered.Have cabbage on my way to get corned beef. ? what do u do with gingerale? I an eat the whole meal by myself....Good............
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing...and happy St. Patty's weekend :)
ReplyDeleteHeidi
This looks mighty tasty! I think I'll give her a try! We eat tons of cabbage here!
ReplyDeleteLooks great, thank you for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteI hate corned beef and cabbage but I think yours looks good enough that I would actually try it!
ReplyDeleteI have never had corned beef before...it doesn't look so appetizing...am I wrong?
ReplyDeleteYour picture looks pretty good. My MIL does not look anything like that. Maybe I will try and make it myself...m
ReplyDeleteMy ENTIRE family loves corned beef and cabbage. I already have it bought and in the fridge waiting for Monday. I put the corned beef in the crock pot in the morning on low and cover with water (but now I am going to try it with your ginger ale suggestion) and about 2 hours before dinner I add the cabbage. The cabbage gets over done (mushy) if you put it in all day. My kids can't wait for Monday!
ReplyDeleteI have also done it for Sunday lunch and then I just put it on high so that it is ready sooner.
Smiles!
I dont even use a crock pot. My friend does it that way, but I have to admit that I am an oven fan when it comes to corn beef :)
ReplyDeleteHow neat is that?! Too bad I am in the .01% of the population allergic to beef--maybe corned Bocca--lol :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for visiting my site--I love yours. It reminds me of the days when it was just the hubby, me and a little colicky baby.
My husband hates this stuff, but I force it down his throat every Match 17. We have green jello, cabbage, potatoes, Irish Soda bread. With pistachio (green) dessert at the end.
ReplyDeleteOf course I will post on all of this holiday-ing, so stay tuned.
I love corn beef and cabbage too. Although I don't cook both together and I don't use the ginger ale. The best part of corn beef and cabbage is the reuben sandwiches that you make from the left overs. Now I'm getting really hungry for this. I guess I'm going to have to go grocery shopping.
ReplyDeleteSeriously? One of your favorites? regardless of the season/time of year? Really??
ReplyDeleteI have never been a fan. I am, however, a fan of your date night ideas - we share a meal often, but sometimes I feel like I got gyped. I like ordering something I CAN'T make or WOULDN'T make at home. I am getting to be a much better cook, so this is getting harder and making eating out a thing of the past in our lives. Not nearly as enjoyable.
I am now also afraid of potatoes.
KEEP BELIEVING
Mmm, I used to love this. My Irish stepmother used to make this every year when I was living at home. (Now I don't eat beef....)
ReplyDeleteHoly Clovers! You make this so easy!!!
ReplyDelete"Corn beef, ginger ale, pour, sprinkle, cook!"
I got one of these to make tomorrow and am so looking forward to it..yummo!
ReplyDeleteWe had a huge St. Patrick's Day party with our friends last year since my hub is a big part Irish, but we're too busy this year. So I bought him a corned beef rueben from Arby's for lunch today. That's the depth of our celebration.
ReplyDeleteYummy, I love St. Patty's Day!
ReplyDeleteYummy! I think I need to start outsourcing cooking around here. It's way too much effort. Too bad chefs are so darn expensive . . .
ReplyDeletemmmm yum! i love corn beef hash! that is my absolute favorite!
ReplyDeleteI swear, I was soooooo close to buying a corn beef brisket at Costco the other day.
ReplyDeleteUntil I remember that I can't stand corned beef.... :-)
We are having corned beef today in honor of St Patty's day since the men folk in the house have to work and most likely will be working late we figured we celebrate early.
ReplyDeleteI looooove conred beef.
i saw your blog on my friend lauren marshmans (i hope that isnt weird) anyway, i think the recipe looks delish. i'll have to give her a try.
ReplyDeleteI think I might just have some Lucky Charms and maybe one of those awesomely H*U*G*E looking potatoes on your last post...mmmmm!
ReplyDeleteNot a corned beef or cabbage fan, but that potato from the previous post is my kinda food!! It looks so yummy...
ReplyDeleteWe had corned beef and cabbage (and boiled potatoes and carrots) yesterday! It was so freakin' yummy!!
ReplyDeleteSounds so delish.
ReplyDeleteOoo, I will have to try and remember the ginger ale idea for next year.
